About Us
The Central Lyon County Fire Protection District proudly serves more than 33,000 residents across approximately 630 square miles in Dayton, Silver Springs, Stagecoach, Mound House, Silver City, and surrounding communities throughout Central Lyon County.
The District traces its roots to the dedicated volunteer fire departments that protected these communities for generations. On April 14, 1971, the Lyon County Board of Commissioners formally established the Central Lyon County Fire Protection District under the provisions of Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) Chapter 474, creating a unified fire protection organization for the region. Today, the District operates under the direction of an independently elected Fire Board and maintains FY27 adopted operating budget of approximately $17 million.
On December 1, 1994, the District hired its first paramedic and began providing Paramedic Advanced Life Support (ALS) services, significantly enhancing emergency medical care throughout Central Lyon County. Since then, we have continued to expand our capabilities and services to meet the evolving needs of our communities.
The Central Lyon County Fire Protection District is a full-service emergency services organization providing:
• Fire suppression and prevention services
• Emergency medical response and ambulance transport
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) paramedic services
• Hazardous materials response and mitigation
• Fire investigations
• Public education and community risk reduction programs
• Plan review and fire code support services
• Local, regional, and national mutual aid response
Additional community services include public CPR training, advanced cardiac monitoring and telemetry, and an ambulance subscription program designed to provide added value to residents.
Every day, our career and volunteer personnel stand ready to serve with professionalism, compassion, and a commitment to excellence. Whether responding to emergencies, protecting lives and property, or preparing for future challenges, we remain focused on operational readiness, innovation, and responsible stewardship of public resources. We recognize that public trust is earned through transparency, accountability, and consistent service, and we are proud to work alongside our Fire Board, labor groups, volunteers, and employees to build a strong, sustainable organization dedicated to serving Central Lyon County today and for generations to come.
The District's commitment to the future is reflected in ongoing investments in facilities, equipment, and personnel. Our first environmentally conscious "green" fire station was completed in 2008, and facility improvements continue as part of our long-term commitment to operational readiness and sustainability.
We remain deeply grateful to the generations of firefighters, volunteers, employees, board members, and residents who have helped build and support this organization. It is both a privilege and an honor to serve the communities of Central Lyon County.
